Skincare Statistics and Trends

According to a recent survey of over 1,000 women in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia conducted by Drive Research, the daily skincare routine is a complex but increasingly essential ritual.
Some key findings:
A large majority of women — 93% — report using moisturizers, 85% use cleansers and 83% apply sunscreen.
Although 73% of respondents say their skincare products aim to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, only 15% believe those products work very well.
When considering skincare purchases, “quality ingredients” was ranked the #1 factor by 35% of women; “scientific research and clinical trials” came second with 31%.
While 69% of women consider the ingredients in their skincare as important, just 21% say they are fully aware of what’s in their products.
On average, women reported that they would wait 2–3 months or longer before expecting visible results from a new skincare product.
Implications for your daily routine:
Prioritize cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection — these remain foundational.
Understand that even though many products promise wrinkle‑reduction, only a small percentage feel the results live up to the hype — so managing expectations and choosing proven formulations matters.
Look for brands that emphasise ingredient transparency, clinical backing and efficacy — because the consumer research shows those are highly valued.
Because many users aren’t fully aware of what’s in their skincare, brand communication and education can build trust.
Be patient — skincare efficacy often takes time; immediate or dramatic results are the exception, not the norm.
